Heart Shock (Lost Falls 4) is coming June 9th!

After a long wait, Heart Shock (Lost Falls Book 4) is set to be released on June 9th!

This book was a real emotional rollercoaster for both me and Ozzy. I’m proud of how it turned out, and I can’t wait until you finally have a chance to read it.

Thanks so much for all your support. To whet your appetite, check out the blurb for Heart Shock below and let me know what you think.

A STOLEN ARTIFACT. A FRIEND WITH ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE. AND A STORM POWERFUL ENOUGH TO KILL DEATH ITSELF.

My friend Lilian is dying, and it’s my fault.

Sure, you could argue that she’s already dead. Lilian is, after all, a deathless revenant still hunting the person who murdered her more than a century ago.

But if she’s destroyed this time, there will be no coming back. And it’s all because I went around town flapping my gums, asking questions about an ancient magical artifact. Now Lilian’s in a coma and I’m being hunted by a bunch of cultists who think I have something that belongs to them—cultists who should be long dead.

That’s not the worst of it. Because it turns out these cultists are old pals of Lilian. The same pals that tried to kill her all those years ago.And they’re back to finish the job.

A Long Overdue Update

So I should probably let you all know where the hell I’ve been, right? ?

First of all I need to apologize for the radio silence. I should have dropped some updates months ago, but life got away from me. I’m sorry if you emailed or messaged me and I didn’t respond. That’s not cool, I know. I’ll try to belatedly respond to all your messages over the next few weeks.

2021 was another challenging year, as I’m sure many of you will agree. Between lockdowns, home-schooling, sleep deprivation, family illnesses and deaths, and my own mental health struggles, it’s been rough at times.

On the bright side, my second child was born last year! He is the happiest kid I’ve ever met. He does a little dance when we give him avocado and his favorite trick is to steal my phone, hold it up like a trophy, shout in triumph, then crawl away with it as fast as he can.

So it’s been a wonderful, tough, exhausting year. I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling drained, and I hope you’re all managing okay.

Of course, as a result of all that it has been challenging to maintain a good writing routine. So when’s the next book coming? I don’t know. I wish I could give you a better answer than that. I really do. One of my big anxieties lately has been how I’m letting you all down by making you wait so long for the next book. It will come, though. That I can promise you.

So what have I been working on between nappy changes and spelling tests? My main project at the moment is Lost Falls 4, which I’m currently three quarters of the way through. I’ve also been outlining the second book in the of the Golden Remnant Saga under my Chris R. Underwood pen name, so that will be next up on the writing desk once I’m done with Lost Falls 4.

I’ve also been working on a side project which helped drag me out of my funk last year: a book inspired by my love of Lovecraftian role-playing games like Call of Cthulhu. I’ll tell you more about it soon. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Thank you for your patience. You’ve all been awesome and I’m so grateful for your support.

What’s next for Lost Falls?

I just wanted to drop by with a few updates on the Lost Falls series. The audiobook versions of Pay Dirt and Tooth and Nail are on their way, with Pay Dirt expected out later this month.

I know a lot of you are also eagerly awaiting Lost Falls 4. I had fully intended to have the book out by now, but then along came 2020.

My year in a nutshell.

The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have played havoc with my writing. I’m basically a stay-at-home dad when my daughter can’t go to daycare, so like many of you I’ve been trying to juggle keeping a small child happy and learning and entertained while also trying to get some work done.

And also, to be totally honest, my mental health has taken a pretty big hit during this whole mess. I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression on and off throughout my life. Usually I’m able to manage it fairly well, but these aren’t ordinary times. Though I am receiving good support and treatment for my mental health, writing is still more difficult than usual for me right now, even when I am able to carve out some time.

But don’t worry, I’m still alive and still writing. Between Lost Falls and my Golden Remnant Saga fantasy series I’ve got my work cut out for me! Thank you for sticking with me. And I hope you’re all safe and well wherever you are.

Tooth and Nail (Lost Falls Book 3) is out now!

It’s finally here! Tooth and Nail (Lost Falls, Book 3) is now available on Kindle and in paperback.

The Kindle version is on sale for $2.99 for the next few days, so be sure to grab your copy before it returns to full price.

I had a blast writing Tooth and Nail. Probably my favorite of the series so far. Dropping Ozzy into the middle of a war between vampires and ogres was a lot of fun. Maybe not so much for Ozzy.

I hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it!

A murdered vampire. No witnesses. A blood feud ignited.

Some folks say the only good vampire is a dead vampire. But when the murder of a vampire threatens the fragile peace between vampires and ogres, someone has to wade into the fray to sort the truth from the lies.

Guess who gets that job.

But there’s more to this murder than an ancient blood feud. Behind the scenes, someone is stoking the fires of war.

And if I can’t uncover the truth soon, we’ll all be feeling the heat.

Tooth and Nail is coming June 2nd!

Get ready, because Tooth and Nail (Lost Falls, Book 3) is coming at you on June 2nd!

I’m so excited to get the book into your hands. I know many of you have been waiting a while for this, so thanks very much for your patience! I hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

Have a gander at the snazzy new cover art, then scroll down to find the blurb for Ozzy’s next big adventure.

The first draft of Lost Falls, Book 3 is complete!

I have finally finished the first draft of the 3rd Lost Falls book! It even has a title: Tooth and Nail.

The book still has to go through some editing passes before it is ready for prime time, but we’re aiming for an April 2019 release. I think the wait will be worth it!

I’ll have more to share about Tooth and Nail in the coming months. For now, though, I hope you’re all enjoying the holidays. Thanks so much for your support this year! Bring on 2019!

Blood Money (A Lost Falls Short Story) is now available!

Blood Money, a short story of mine, recently appeared alongside a bunch of other fantastic tales in a limited-run anthology called Eight in the Chamber.

That anthology, sadly, is no longer available. If you missed out, though, you can now grab Blood Money as a standalone short story on Amazon for only $0.99. Click here to get your copy.

Come join Ozzy as he takes a job tracking down a vampire’s missing consort, only to find his own morals pushed to the limit.

Check out the blurb below and then grab your copy!

As Lost Falls’ resident folk wizard, I can track down anyone.

It should’ve been a simple job. Find the girl, bring her home.

Except she’s not just any girl. She’s the bloodslave of one of the most powerful vampires in town.

And I’m not sure she wants to be found.
